The main tasks of the consultant will be to provide support and advice to the Post-EPS

• It is expected that the tasks of the consultant will include:
  - Refinement of mission requirements in response to expert advice and results of
  scientific studies,
  - Conduct of scientific assessments related to requirements refinements,
  - Interaction with expert teams and support to the conduct of expert team meetings,
  - Contribution to the development of prototype processors,
  - Assessment of results from scientific studies,
  - Contribution to the instigation of scientific support studies,
  - Generation of technical documents
  - Participation in reviews.
  

The tasks will evolve as the Post-EPS specifications mature in the coming years.

The consultant shall have the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a
minimum of supervision. The consultant shall have a university degree in meteorology,
atmospheric physics, remote sensing, or equivalent. He/she shall have a minimum of three
years experience in the field of remote sensing. The main areas of expertise are:

• Atmospheric remote sensing in the optical spectrum (Ultraviolet to Infrared),
  
• Radiative transfer,
  
• Familiarity with earth observation systems in operational meteorology and climate
  monitoring (both remote sensing and in situ systems),
  
• Handling and processing of remote sensing data,
  
• Very good skills in a higher programming language (e.g. Fortran, C++).
  

The consultant shall possess good inter-personal skills. He/she shall have the ability to write
concise and comprehensive documents.

The working language for the consultant is English; the consultant must be able to work
effectively in this language.
