A Graphic Design Support Consultant is required to support the CIS Division for the layout
and design of publications and other graphic design related communications material for CIS.
|
All tasks and deliverables are to be identified in quarterly work packages to be discussed
between the EUMETSAT Technical Officer and the Graphic Design Support Consultant on
each occasion.
|
The following task areas will need to be handled:
- Graphic Design – To provide graphic design and layout support for the production of
brochures, information sheets and other printed material for CIS and other EUMETSAT
Divisions using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), in adherence to
the EUMETSAT corporate design guidelines. This will include the development and/or
amendment of graphic diagrams, layout design, typesetting, and delivery of final
electronic files for printing and publication online. This material will cover a wide range
of EUMETSAT technical and general information topics. Examples of our publications
can be found at www.eumetsat.int. This support will involve the coordination of various
simultaneous projects and their delivery on time and in the required quality.
- Electronic Image Production - To produce computer generated graphics and diagrams
for slides and direct computer use, using packages such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop,
and Microsoft PowerPoint as and when required. To choose, provide and develop
illustration material from internal and external sources for use in publications, liaising
with the relevant technical experts to ensure the accuracy of content, providing the
required titles for each image and thereafter storing material in the image management
system if and when required.
- Electronic Image Storage – To ensure all new images are uploaded to the EUMETSAT
image management system (CELUM Imagine) on a regular basis and keyworded
accordingly.
- Electronic Image Distribution – To supply internal and external users with electronic
files of assorted imagery, design elements, graphics/illustrations, and logo files if and
when requested.
- In addition, the Graphic Design Support Consultant is required to provide special
expertise and support whenever asked to do so by the Technical Officer.

The following minimum deliverables are a mandatory requirement:
- 1) Delivery of accurate monthly status reports, to the Technical Officer, on all tasks
conducted by the Graphic Design Support Consultant.
- 2) Delivery of all planned tasks and projects as agreed in the work packages.
- 3) Regular liaison i.e. at least twice per month with the Technical Officer on the number,
scope and status of image distribution requests.
- 4) Regular liaison i.e. at least weekly with the Technical Officer on the status of any projects
handled by the Graphic Design Support Consultant (to be defined in each work package).

The Graphic Design Support Consultant should have a recognised qualification in graphic
design or a minimum of one year experience in a graphic design print production
environment.
|
A high attention to detail and the capability to adhere to quality standards even when under
pressure to keep a deadline is essential. Additionally, a strong knowledge and practical
experience of the graphic design process for print is a distinct advantage.
|
Experience in customer liaison is an advantage, and he/she should possess the necessary
interpersonal skills to handle a wide variety of internal and external customers. As some of
the design tasks are part of a larger project, he/she should also be a strong team player.
|
The Graphic Design Support Consultant should be fluent in at least oral English to be able to
converse in what is primarily an English speaking environment. A working knowledge of
German would be valuable and knowledge of French would be an advantage.

Particular experience of both Apple Macintosh and Windows PC-based operating systems,
particularly in the use of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) software is required.
