It is expected that the tasks of the Verification and Validation Consultant will typically
include:

• Provision of support and advice to the EUMETSAT GMES S-3 System and Operations
  Preparation Team Leader for all issues related to FOS and PDGS IV&V as well as OSV
  activities
  
• Contribution to the production and updates of the FOS and PDGS IV&V High Level
  Plans
  
• Generation of the detailed FOS and PDGS IV&V tests specification by integrating the
  inputs of the various experts into a coherent and resource-efficient Integration
  Verification and Validation approach
  
• Definition and support to the development of test tools and test data sets required for
  FOS and PDGS IV&V
  
• Leading the preparation and the execution of the FOS and PDGS IV&V test
  procedures, including the coordination of the testing, the analysis of test results and the
  preparation of the test reports
  
• Contribution to the definition of the Overall System Validation Test Plan and the
  execution of the Satellite Overall System Validation activities
  
• Contribution to the preparation of the System Commissioning Plan and the execution of
  the System Commissioning
  
• Preparation and maintenance of schedule, resource allocations and Work Breakdown
  Structures for IV&V activities
  
• Support to the identification and the assessment of risks related to IV&V activities
  and implementation of mitigation measures
  
• Monitor and, where applicable, steering the lifecycle for all related anomaly reports
  (ARs) /non-conformance reports (NCRs)
  

The Consultant shall have, as a pre-requisite a demonstrated experience of five years in the
area of Integration, Verification and Validation (IV&V) of Earth Observation Systems
(Satellite and Ground).

This experience shall include:

• Knowledge of development lifecycle of Earth Observation Systems from design
  to validation;
  
• Capability to prepare IV&V plans, specifications and procedures
  
• Competence for the logistic tasks related to the preparation and execution of
  Integration and IV&V tests, including the involvement by external entities
  (partners and industry)
  
• Competence with standards applicable to IV&V activities (QA, Configuration
  Management, …)
  
• Knowledge of Test Data for IV&V activities in particular with respect to the
  needs and the usage
  
• Testing and verification of complex data processing systems;
  

Experience in the area of Satellite Validation Testing (SVT) would be an asset.

Furthermore, the consultant shall have a goal oriented attitude with a good level of
communication skills enabling working effectively in a large integrated team distributed in
different geographical locations.

The Consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner,
shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with a
minimum of supervision.

The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for
the position is English and therefore the consultant must be able to work effectively in this
language and have knowledge of the other.
